Beginner Information

Entering a yoga studio for the first time can sometimes be an intimidating experience, but at East Yoga we pride ourselves on building a welcoming and comfortable home for all new yogis. And always remember it is yoga practice, not yoga perfect!

The Basics for Beginners

Here are a few tips to know before your first visit:

  • - For all new yogis, we recommend our Beginner classes or Yoga Fundamentals Workshop.

  • - Sign-up for any class or workshop is available through our schedule tab. We do not require students to sign-up prior to classes, but it is recommended for all workshops.

  • - We suggest getting to the studio 15 minutes prior to the beginning of a class. This will allow you time to check in, set-up and get comfortable before the class begins.

  • - Wear something comfortable that will allow you to move freely. Shoes are not needed for yoga and we will ask you to take off your shoes when you enter the studio.

  • - The only thing that you need for a yoga practice is a yoga mat. Feel free to bring your own, but there are mats available at the studio to buy or rent.

  • - We would suggest not eating two hours prior to a class. This will help avoid any discomfort during the class.

  • - Our teachers are here for you. If it is your first yoga class, let our instructors know. This is your practice and they can help you modify any pose that you are not ready for.
