Megan turned to yoga after years of cold New England winters left her feeling drained. She soon discovered a new strength and balance that resonated well beyond the studio walls. Yoga deepened her understanding that life is what you make of it. With this in mind she left her job to make painting a more central part of her life. Jobless, she began work-study at a yoga studio and before she new it began teaching, a clear example of Lao Tzu’s wise words, ‘By not doing, everything is done.’
Her classes are rooted in traditional Astanga principles, but have an element of creative exploration. Her light-hearted demeanor makes students feel comfortable as she pushes them to challenge themselves. Megan is certified by the Yoga Alliance and has completed programs with O2 Yoga’s Mimi Loureiro and Jodi Komitor of Next Generation Yoga. She extended her study through workshops with Bryan Kest, Jill Miller, Beryl Bender Birch, Ana Forrest, and through constant self-exploration.
When not teaching classes at East Yoga, Megan teaches yoga to kids all over the city through a program called My First Yoga. And she also paints! To check out her art visit www.murphygallery.net
